Aerial Drone

Mavic Air 2: The Mavic Air 2 offers a variety of significant improvements compare to its predecessor from last year, the Mavic Air. These improvements can be found in its performance, intelligent features, flight time, and wireless transmission system. There is also a brand new DJI Fly app that provides an even more streamlined flying experience. It offers a safer and smarter flight experience with a maximum flight speed of 42 mph (Sport mode) and a maximum flight time of 34 minutes; the included the remote controller has a maximum runtime of 6 hours. The Mavic Air 2's powerful gimbal camera combines with the DJI Fly app's intelligent shooting modes to give you creative aerial photography and amazing results.

APAS 3.0 Obstacle Avoidance: Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 3.0 utilizes an advanced mapping technology for smooth following and reliable obstacle avoidance in complex scenarios. Obstacle avoidance performance and automatic flight planning has dramatically improved compared to previous generations, increasing safety and providing more options. The Mavic Air 2 is equipped with both an Infrared Sensing System, as well as a Forward, Backward, and Downward Vision System.

  • Forward & Backward Vision Sensors: The Forward and Backward Vision Systems consist of two cameras each. These vision systems help the aircraft perceive the environment around it for safer and more intelligent flight control. The forward vision sensor is accurate up to 72.1' (22 meters), while the backward vision sensor is accurate up to 75.4' (23.6 meters).
  • Infrared & Downward Sensors: The Infrared Sensing System consists of two 3D infrared modules, while the Downward Sensing System consists of two cameras. The Downward cameras and Infrared 3D modules help to aircraft maintain its current position, hover in place, and fly indoors or in other environments where GPS is unavailable. In addition, an Auxiliary Bottom Light located on the underside of the aircraft improves viability for the Downward Vision System in weak light conditions.

Notes:

  • The Advanced Pilot Assistance System 3.0 is only available in Normal Flight mode and when flying forward or backward (APAS 3.0 disables when flying left or right).
  • APAS 3.0 is disabled when using Intelligent Flight Modes and when recording in 4K @ 60/50/48 fps, 2.7K @ 60/50/48 fps, or 1080p @ 120/240 fps.
  • The Vision System cameras are factory calibrated. If any abnormality is detected with a vision system camera, the aircraft will automatically preform calibration; not further manual calibration is required.

OcuSync 2.0 Technology: Built into the Mavic Air 2 and included remote controller is DJI's long-range transmission technology OcuSync 2.0 with dual-band auto switching for maximum wireless transmission of flight control and live video. OcuSync 2.0 has a wireless transmission distance of up to 6.2 miles (10 km)

  • 1080p HD Video: OcuSync 2.0 has a video transmission distance of up to 6.2 miles (10 km) and can deliver a 1080p FHD resolution livestream directly from the drone's camera to your Apple iPhone or Android smartphone through the DJI Fly App. Now, you can enjoy more freedom for exploring and more clarity for that perfect shot.
  • Dual Band: OcuSync 2.0 utilizes  2.4/5.8GHz dual-frequency communication and automatically switches to the best channel with the lowest interference in real time and low latency (120-130 ms). This significantly improves the aircraft's anti-interference ability in challenging environments, increasing flight safety.

Flight Modes: The Mavic Air 2 has 4 flight modes. The Normal, Sport, and Tripod mode can be selected manually. The Mavic Air 2 switches to the Attitude mode automatically in certain flight scenarios.

  • Normal Mode: In this mode, the aircraft utilizes GPS and the Forward, Backward, and Downward Vision Systems, a well as the Infrared Sensing System to locate itself and stabilize. When the GPS signal is strong, the aircraft uses GPS to locate itself and stabilize. When the GPS is weak and the lighting conditions are sufficient, the aircraft uses vision systems to locate itself and stabilize. Maximum speed is 26 mph in Normal mode.
  • Sport Mode: In Sport mode, the aircraft uses GPS for positioning and the aircraft responses are optimized for agility and speed making it more responsive to control stick movements. It can reach a maximum speed of 42 mph in Sport Mode. The Forward and Backward Vision Systems are disabled in Sport mode, which means the aircraft cannot sense obstacles and avoid them automatically.
  • Tripod Mode: Tripod mode is based on Normal mode and the flight speed is limited, making the aircraft more stable during photo and video shooting.
  • Attitude Mode: The aircraft automatically changes to this mode when the Vision Systems are unavailable or disabled and either the GPS signal is weak or the compass is experiencing interference. When the Vision Systems are unavailable the aircraft is not able to position itself or auto-brake, so potential flight hazards exist when flying in this mode. Environmental factors such as wind can result in horizontal shifting, which may present hazards - especially when flying in confined spaces.

Return To Home (RTH): The Return to Home (RTH) function brings the aircraft back to the last recored Home Point when the GPS signal is strong. It does this by recording its real-time flight path, and when you choose to return home or if the control signal gets lost or the battery is low, the aircraft will fly towards the Home Point, bypassing any signal obstruction and reconnect to the controller. When the Mavic Air detects an obstacle, it will choose a proper path to bypass it according to its altitude. The aircraft will match the images of the ground with those captured at takeoff for increased landing accuracy. When landing automatically, the Mavic Air will scan the terrain of the landing area in real-time, then warn the user and safely hover if it detects

Note: If the aircraft's video link signal is lost during flight while the remote controller is still able to operate the movements of the aircraft, there will be a prompt to initiate RTH that can be canceled.

Flight Recorder: Flight data including flight telemetry, aircraft status information, and other parameters are automatically saved to the internal data recorder of the DJI Mavic Air 2. The data can be accessed using the DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic software program (compatible with Windows PC and Mac).

FAA Rules & Regulations: Please familiarize yourself with the FAA's rules & regulations for unmanned aircraft systems before flying your drone. Click here for more details.

A
Best to contact DJI for an exact answer to question.
domingo  Aug 27, 2020
A
It depends upon the size of the tablet. There are adaptors for various tablets such as the iPad etc. Check PGYTECH for tablet adaptors for Mavic drones as they list those that work with their adaptor. If the tablet will work you will need a longer cable to connect the tablet to the controller than that supplied with the drone.
