Wireless Speaker System

Denon Home Series: The Denon Home Series with HEOS fills your home with superb wireless sound. The Denon Home Series is comprised of the following wireless audio speakers - The Denon Home 150, 250, and 350. These high-resolution audio wireless speakers give you convenient access to your music thanks to HEOS Built-in technology. Using the HEOS app (for Apple iOS and Android OS), the Denon Home Series speakers can be easily connected and expanded throughout the home to other HEOS Built-in products, including Denon's lineup of AVRs, speakers, soundbars and Hi-Fi equipment (all sold separately). The new Denon Home wireless speaker system delivers reference quality playback without the complexity of traditional Hi-Fi separates.

  • With Denon Home Series and HEOS, you can stream your favorite songs from Amazon Music HD, Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, TIDAL and more; as well as high-resolution files stored on USB drives, smartphones or networks via WiFi, AirPlay 2, or even Bluetooth.
  • You can also group Denon Home Series speakers with other AirPlay 2 devices and HEOS Built-in products; like AV receivers, Hi-Fi systems, soundbars, and speakers to fill your home with detailed, expansive sound. Play different music in each room, or group devices together to stream the same music throughout the home.

Denon Home 150 Wireless Speaker: Perfect for smaller spaces in the home, the Denon Home 150's compact design features a premium 1" soft dome tweeter and 3.5" woofer powered by two Class-D amplifiers for room-filling sound. The Denon Home 150 offers outstanding high-resolution music playback, incredible detail, and ease-of-use. The Denon Home 150 has been designed from the ground-up, leveraging Denon's expertise in Hi-Fi amplification, DSP engineering and sound master tuning for high fidelity sound with clear highs and deep lows. You can adjust the speaker's Bass & Treble from the HEOS app on your compatible Apple iOS or Android device.

  • Stereo Pairing: Pair two Denon Home 150 speakers using the HEOS app and enjoy true stereo. One Denon Home 150 speaker works as left channel, while the other Denon 150 speaker works as the right channel - giving you wireless Hi-Fi quality stereo sound.
  • Wireless Subwoofer: If you need more bass, you can simply add Denon's Home Sub (sold separately).
  • Wireless Surround: You can connect a pair of Denon Home 150 speakers with Denon's Home Soundbar 550 and Home Sub (all sold separately) to create a 4.1ch home theater setup with wireless surrounds and wireless powered subwoofer.

HEOS Wireless Multiroom Sound: The Denon Home 150 is part of the HEOS wireless multiroom audio eco-system - comprising of a family of wireless network speakers, AV receivers, amplifiers, & pre-amplifiers for your whole home. There is a free HEOS app to control them from your Apple iOS or Android mobile device. You can enjoy your favorite streaming music services, internet radio, or your own music collection through out your home. Plus, set-up is intuitive and simple. To make HEOS wireless multi-room audio work in your home, you'll need the following.

  • HEOS built-in network audio speakers, receiver amplifiers, and/or pre-amplifiers.
  • A wireless (WiFi) home network with internet connection.
  • An Apple iOS or Android mobile device connected to your home wireless (WiFi) network.
  • The free HEOS app downloaded on your Apple iOS or Android device.

HEOS Account: Prior to using the HEOS system, you'll need to setup up your free HEOS account. Your HEOS account remembers all your settings and preferences such as all your music service logins and HEOS playlists. When you'd like to add multiple smartphone or tablet controllers to your system, you only need to sign in to each new device with your HEOS user name and password. Instantly all your music services and HEOS playlists are available in the new controller too. If you prefer, multiple HEOS accounts can be setup in a single household. This way, each family member can enjoy their own personalized Pandora, Spotify, etc. account settings and still share all the same speakers in the home.

Multi-Room Configuration: Combing the Denon Home 150 with other HEOS wireless music amplifiers and speakers (sold separately), you can configure a true wireless multi-room sound system in your home. You can play the same song in every room or any combination of rooms you choose, including a different song in every room. The HEOS wireless audio system automatically synchronizes audio playback between multiple speakers so that the audio coming from different rooms is perfectly in sync with great sound.

  • Sources: Online music services, DLNA content, Bluetooth audio, USB audio, Apple iOS/Android device's music library, and the Aux input can be distributed to multiple HEOS products for multiroom/multisource playback.
  • Systems: The HEOS wireless multi-room sound system can support up to 32 HEOS music amplifiers, pre-amplifiers, and/or speakers (sold separately) on a single wireless network.
  • Groups: You can join or group up to eight individual speakers or amplifiers into a group of speakers that function as if they were a single speaker. The HEOS App is also flexible enough where you can create up to 16 Groups (2 speakers/players/amplifiers per Group).
  • Party Mode: You can easily group eight rooms together into Party Mode by using a "pinch" gesture.
Note: A Group refers to the HEOS App's ability to take multiple HEOS systems and play them together, so you're outputting the same source information from all the HEOS systems at the same time. Grouping the systems will also allow proper synchronization to all systems so you should never hear an audio delay between the HEOS systems.

Hi-Res & Audiophile-Grade Synchronization: To deliver a true audiophile listening experience for high-resolution music playback (up to 24-bit/192kHz) with multiple HEOS speakers & players at once, each HEOS player and speaker must be synchronized to an extremely high degree. Based on years of meticulous research, HEOS delivers unparalleled synchronization performance within microseconds for exceptional high-resolution music playback.

  • The Denon Home 150, as well as other HEOS built-in Gen 2 and up products, will distribute high-resolution music files (up to 24-bit/192kHz) throughout your home to other Denon Home Series and HEOS Gen 2-up products; without any down-sampling.
  • The Denon Home 150, as well as other HEOS built-in Gen 2 and up products, will down-sample high-resolution music files (up to 24-bit/192kHz) to CD-quality (16-bit/44.1kHz) and then distribute the music throughout your home to older HEOS Gen 1 products.

Wired or Wireless Network Connectivity: The Denon Home 150 and Heos uses your home's wireless (WiFi) network for whole-house audio entertainment. The Denon Home 150 can connect to your home's network via Ethernet (RJ-45) or WiFi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac). At least a dual-band (2.4/5GHZ) "N" router is recommended for the most reliable wireless network connection for high-resolution music playback. The free HEOS app for Apple iOS and Android is used for wireless (WiFi) setup with your home's network.

Note: A WiFi extender (sold separately) may be necessary if your network's wireless signal is weak to some of the HEOS speakers or players in your application.

AC Power: The Denon Home 150 comes with a detachable 6.5' AC power cord that plugs into the back of the speaker and into an AC wall outlet or surge protector (sold separately - see Accessories Tab). There are 3 power modes to choose from.

  • Quick Start: To save power, the speaker will automatically enter "Quick Start Mode" whenever there is no network access or playback for 20 minutes and will automatically resume to full power whenever the speaker is selected and playing music. There is no visible indicator or LED that will show that the speaker is in Quick Start Mode as it is a fully automatic function.
  • Deep Standby: The speaker also has the ability to automatically enter "Deep Standby" whenever the wired or wireless network connection is removed for more than 60 minutes. The front panel LED will turn off during Deep Standby. To "wake" a speaker from Deep Standby, you must press the volume or mute buttons which will immediately turn on the front panel LED.
  • Off: To completely turn off the power to the speaker you must remove the mains plug from the back of the speaker.

Note: The Denon Home 150 speaker is not battery powered.

Mounting Options: You can place the Denon Home 150 speaker almost anywhere you want to enjoy great sounding music. This compact wireless audio speaker can simply be placed on a table-top, or it can even be mounted on a wall or ceiling using its standard 1/4"-20 threaded insert on back of the speaker and an optional wall-mount bracket (sold separately). Please follow these simple guidelines when determining where to place the Denon Home 150 speaker.

  • The Denon Home 150 speaker must be within range of your wireless network.
  • The wireless audio speaker must be near an AC power outlet.
  • The Denon Home 150 speaker is designed to sound best when placed 3-12" from a wall.
  • Locate the speaker at least 12" from a television, computer, or other display device to avoid the possibility of interference.
  • Place the speaker across the room from where you will be listening, as close to ear level as possible.

Note: Thi speaker is not waterproof. Do not place it near any water source and do not leave it outside in the rain or snow.

Voice control functions include -

  • Alexa voice commands include Volume (up/down, specific volume number, & mute); Playback (Play, Pause, Stop, Next, Previous, Resume); and Power (on/off). Plus, you can even use Alexa to switch inputs on HEOS enabled AV receivers and soundbars.
  • You can group your HEOS-enabled devices using the HEOS app with an Alexa-friendly name. Once they are grouped, Alexa voice commands will control the group as a whole. If you want to play audio content from only one HEOS-enabled device in the group, you must ungroup the device within the HEOS app.
  • You are able use voice commands to search for songs, albums and artists and even podcasts and internet stations from HEOS & Alexa compatible music apps - like Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, Spotify Connect, & SiriusXM.
  • You can also ask Alexa for weather forecasts, sports scores, news updates; as well as control smarthome appliances, cameras, lighting, and more.
  • For a list of current Alexa voice commands supported by the HEOS HomeEntertainment Skill, click here. For setup instructions, click here.

Notes:

  • Make sure the unit has the latest HEOS software and firmware update is installed.
  • Only one voice control service can be enabled.

Siri Voice Control: With the Denon Home speaker you can now extend access to Apple Siri beyond where you have your HomePod or HomePod mini in your home or office (sold separately). You'll be able to speak to Siri through the built-in microphonse on the Denon Home speaker. Ask Siri to play music, adjust volume, change tracks, or control other smarthome devices on your network. You can also ask Siri to set timers & alarms, send a text message & make a phone call, check the news & weather, plus much more. You will need to use the HEOS App (for Apple iOS and Android OS) to add the Denon Home speaker to the Apple Home app. To get started you will also need the following -

  • Heos firmware version 3.1.X (or later) installed on the Denon Home speaker.
  • An Apple HomePod or HomePod mini (sold separately).
  • Apple iOS 16.1 or later installed on your Apple device.
  • Click here for further details and setup instructions.

Notes:

  • The Denon Home speaker must be removed from the Apple Home app, if it is already in the Home app as an AirPlay speaker.
  • Only one voice control service can be enabled.

Google Assistant Support: Ask your Google Home speaker or other devices with Google Assistant built-in to control HEOS content across your listening environment. Once you start music in the HEOS app, you can ask the Google Assistant to control volume, play, pause, skip tracks, and more. Once you have grouped your HEOS-enabled devices using the HEOS app, you can use the Google Assistant and voice commands to control a group of HEOS devices as a whole. You'll need to download the Google Home app (for Apple iOS 14.0+ and Android OS 8.0+) onto your compatible smartphone or tablet device to setup and enable Google Assistant Support. Click here for more info on Google Assistant for HEOS.

  • You will need a Google Assistant-enabled device (sold separately) to operate your HEOS products via voice-command; the speaker's built-in microphone does not support Google Assistant.
  • Your HEOS components and the Google Assistant-enabled device must be on the same network.
  • Make sure the unit has the latest HEOS software and firmware update installed.
  • Only one voice control service can be enabled.

Firmware Updates: Firmware and software updates from HEOS are delivered to the Denon Home 150 via your home network's Internet connection. When such updates become available, you will be notified when you open the HEOS app on your Apple iOS or Android device.

Q
I looking for a single rear speaker to allow tv sound to be heard from a long room? Not a surround sound. Would this function in that capacity? Connecting to a Denon DRA800H.
scott r.  Sep 20, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Scott. Thank you for your question. The DRA 800H has the capability of multi zone. It can play a different source in a second zone. The reason Im saying that is anything connected to the DRA 800H via HDMI can only be distributed using HEOS in zone one. Short answer, only use zone 1 on the DRA 800H and you can send TV audio to other HEOS speakers in your home.

Q
Is it possible to pair multiple denon home 150 speakers without being connected to a wifi network?
a.j.  Jun 13, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings A.J. and thank you for your question. Multiple HEOS speakers need a wifi network to be grouped. Bluetooth will only pair one speaker at a time, not a group.

Q
I am looking to build a new 5.1 surround system with a Denon AVR-S960H receiver. Would I need to purchase 5 of these (an additional one for the center channel)?
tee  Nov 17, 2022
1 answer
A
The Denon AVR-S960H is a perfect start to a 5.1 surround system, Tee. You will not want to use these Denon Home 150's for multi-channel decoding. These are a good add-on for other rooms, or wireless music listening through the HEOS app but they will not accurately decode any surround sound information. With the 960H 5 wired speakers are the best call for true surround sound decoding. Consider these options below: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_701C9IICBK/Jamo-Concert-9-Series-C-9-CEN-II-Black-Ash.html This Jamo concert is an amazing deal right now, and a truly fantastic speaker. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_701C91IIBK/Jamo-Concert-9-Series-C-91-II-Black-Ash.html The matching Jamo C-91 bookshelf is a small footprint speaker with a big sound, and you can use this for the front L and R and rear surround channels. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CSW16/Crutchfield-Speaker-Wire-16-gauge.html This bulk 16-gauge speaker wire is small enough to go un-noticed and is a great way to connect all five speakers physically to the Denon. Just add your choice of powered subwoofer and you are going to see amazing sound!

Q
I have my Denon AVR, i am playing with my cd player can i used this speaker to listen to my music?
rolando  Nov 27, 2021

A
Any music source layed through your Denon AVR can be played through a Denon 150 with the HEOS app.
gary  Nov 28, 2021
A
Yes, as long as your AVR has either BlueTooth or HEOS. One caution, if you don't use the speaker regularly it lose it's network connection and then must be powered off and back on to reconnect (or you can connect it to your home network with cat 5). I like the speakers but don't like having to reconnect them to my wireless network each time I use them.
jordan  Nov 28, 2021
A
yes, works with HEOS app. you can network the 150 through you Denon AVR.
steve  Nov 28, 2021
A
If you are using HEOS, create a room for the AVR, then add the 150 to that room. You should be able to select the cd player as a source, and it will play on your wireless speaker and your AVR.
william  Nov 27, 2021
A
Yes, in the HEOS app go to music select inputs then find the one the corresponds with where your cd is connected to your Denon
greg  Nov 27, 2021
A
The Denon Home 150 is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capable. I don't know for sure, but I expect you can connect it to your Denon AVR if it is Bluetooth or Wi-fi capable.

Q
Can I use two of these as surround back speakers with my Denon AVR-X3700h?
ravinder  Nov 20, 2021
2 answers
A
I don't believe so. They will connect through wifi to the denon from anywhere in the house. They connect through blue tooth and wifi, so it may be possible.
scott  Nov 26, 2021
A
The Denon Home 150 speakers are not designed to be used as rear speakers in a surround sound setup. A better choice would be SVS Bookshelf speakers. The Denon 150's are for streaming music and require no hard wire connection. I use mine for Pandora, SiriusXM and other sources through the HEOS App. The speakers do require an electrical outlet to plug into.

Q
Is there a limit to how much music is stored on the USB stick? Will it work with a 128 gb flash drive? I currently have around 70 GB of music.
todd  Jun 18, 2021
6 answers
A
I've never used a USB stick, only Pandora and XM. But knowing the quantity of music available to those apps my guess is a USB stick with 128 GB is no problem.
hunt  Jul 07, 2021
A
The answer you seek is on the polk website. I read it when I bought mine, can't remember the max gb it will support.
scott  Jul 07, 2021
A
There was nothing on the documentation about the usb stick size only that it must be formatted in FAT32 or NTFS.
aaron t  Jul 06, 2021
A
I do not know but I do have a 32 gb flash drive full of music with no problems experienced.
robert  Jul 06, 2021
A
I have not used the speaker this way. I just stream to it through my Roon Core. I checked Denon's Web site and this is what they say... "All the HEOS speaker systems have a USB port that can read an NTFS, FAT 16 or FAT 32 formatted USB drive. Simply plug in the USB drive to the HEOS speaker's USB port and select Local Music from the HEOS App." I would think you should be good with a 128 GB flash drive.
jerald  Jul 06, 2021
A
I'm not sure, I just have mine hooked up the my HEOS for music in other rooms that were not wired for sound. I love the sound and output it delivers.

How many watts does it put out?

I cannot find this information in any of the documentation provided to us nor on their website. I recommend calling Denon's support using 800-497-8921 to see if they are able to provide the watts

Q
Do you need them to be wired also ? How does that work ? The 150 both speakers also can they played via my denon receiver ?
adnan  Nov 22, 2020
5 answers
A
Assuming you have a strong WiFi router signal you will not need to wire the speakers; however, that option is available to connect them directly to the router and plug into the back of the speakers. The reason I purchased them was to avoid wires running all over the house so it's not required to plug them into the router. You have to download the HEOS app which allows you to make available all the online music services such as Pandora, Spotify, and any of the services that require a pay subscription like SiriusXM. The app also allows you to group additional 150 speakers or any other Denon wireless speakers in groups so all are playing the same music in different rooms. If your Denon AVR allows you to download the HEOS app then you can play the same online music that you have subscriptions to just like your IPhone. I have the Marantz SR7013 and all that works well. You will need to add your AVR device to your phone HEOS app which then allows you to save your favorites from your phone to the AVR. I haven't figured out if it's possible to play my personal cd's through the AVR to the Denon 150's yet. I don't think it's possible if that's your plan of direction.
hunt  Nov 23, 2020
A
These are designed to be wireless speakers. You need to have an amp/receiver from Denon or Marantz if you want to use both your existing wired speakers and these wireless speaker. However, the Denon Home 150 has a 3.5mm jack so you can plug in a device directly to them
douglas  Nov 22, 2020
A
No, they are not capable of being wired as other bookshelf speakers can be. They work great with Bluetooth. If your Denon receiver has Bluetooth or HEOS they will work very well.
don  Nov 22, 2020
A
They do not need to be wired. They work via Denon HEOS technology. They can be used in a second zone; i.e. another room if you so desire. They cannot be configured as surround channel speakers.
thomas  Nov 22, 2020
A
I bought this for a xmas gift and cannot answer the question. I also have a Heos 7 speaker which I love and 0nly use it wirelessly I have had no problems with the 7 and expect the Home 150 will owrk just as well with the Heos app on my iphone! I love the fact you can use a USB flashdrive as a music source!

Q
Can 2 of these be paired with the Denon DHT-S516H soundbar as surrounds?
robert  Oct 13, 2020
1 answer
A
I don't believe so. I tried to use them as surrounds on my Denon 9.2 system. I was only able to configure them as a zone 2 speaker stereo system. Speakers used as surround speakers need to be connected (wired) to the surround speaker out terminals on your main system.

Q
Do pair of Heos Home 150 work as surrounding speakers with Marantz NR1609?
sunnyb  Jul 29, 2020

Yes they would work well with a NR1609. I use them with my Marantz SR8015 in fact and they sound fantastic.

Hi Sunny, thanks for reaching out. The only way you would be able to use the Denon Home 150 speakers in a wireless surround configuration, would be use them in conjunction with the Denon DHT-S716H powered sound bar. Please reach out if you'd like to gather more info on this setup, by chatting with us online, or by phone at 1-800-324-9695.
jessica  Aug 16, 2020 (Staff)
A
no, these are NOT for that purpose. I bought some cambridge audio mini cubes and they work awesome, but are hardwired. If you are trying to get wireless, then you'd need to find some other transmitter process. Also, these are not set up with terminals, so don't think you will use these even as hardwired speakers. They work great as stand alone Bluetooth or HEOS process enabled speakers.
brad  Aug 12, 2020
A
No. I thought that might work but you can not configure these to only receive the surround channel. You can duplicate the main front speaker channels or main out put from your amplifier. I have a Denon, with HEOS and I could not get them to work as surround speakers.
thomas  Aug 12, 2020
Q
Does it work surrounding speakers with Marantz NR1609?
sunnyb  Jul 29, 2020

No, only with the top of the line Denon DHT-S716H soundbar as a surround speaker: If you look under "features" for the Home 150 it shows it only works with the DHT-S716H soundbar: "Usage as Surround SPK for Soundbar DHT-S716H"

So far, it sounds great. I am using it in a bedroom that is around 16x16 w/furniture and it is plenty loud and clean. The base is nice, but not overpowering. I have been using the HEOS app and it hasn't had any problems. I have not tried it with just straight bluetooth.
brad  Apr 21, 2020

We have not had the ability this year, to take a listen to the new Denon Home series, but, in sticking with Denon's name, you are still utilizing Hi-Fi amplification, DSP, and sound mastering built into the new Home series. Feel free to chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. An Advisor will be happy to go over this with in deeper detail!

These are mono speakers, so I assume you can only connect them in pairs as mono's. I only have one of these speakers, so I can't really answer for sure.
keith  Dec 07, 2020

I am using the HEOS app, so once you pair the speakers, it "picks one as R and one as L, but gives you a swap option.
