About the Nest Temperature Sensor
You decide what "room temperature" means
The Nest Temperature Sensor lets you monitor the temperature in baby's room, and set your Nest Thermostat to keep it comfortable.
You decide what "room temperature" means
Your heating and cooling system tries to make your whole house one temperature. The Nest Temperature Sensor lets you monitor any room you want — say, the baby's room — so your Nest Thermostat can do its heating and cooling based on that space.
Just place a Nest Temperature Sensor in a room and wirelessly connect it to your Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Generation). Then you'll be able to get granular with the scheduling. Set your thermostat to keep the baby's room warm overnight, or cool the kitchen down during the hectic morning hours. It gives you more data points, so Nest can do a better job keeping you and yours comfortable.
You don't have to stop at just one. You can add up to 6 sensors to each Nest Thermostat you own (with a grand total of 18 per household) and use them to refine your ability to monitor and control your Nest system.

Features
Overview: The Nest Temperature Sensor is designed to be used exclusively with the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd generation) or Nest Thermostat E. It monitors the temperature in the room, and wirelessly sends the data to the connected Nest Thermostat. This allows you to program the thermostat to keep that particular room at a certain temperature at certain times of the day. The Temperature Sensor can be hung on a wall or placed on a shelf. Dimensions: Diameter 1.968", Height 0.885", Weight 1.6 ounces.
Function: Most home HVAC systems have a centrally-located thermostat with it's own temperature sensor. As the air around the thermostat varies from the set temperature, the thermostat will turn on the heat or air conditioning. With a remote Nest Temperature Sensor connected to your compatible Nest Thermostat, the thermostat will keep that room's temperature at the set temperature. If the bedroom gets too cool at night, adding a Temperature Sensor will keep that room comfortable while you sleep. The Nest app lets you set the temperature for specific rooms at different hours. For example, you can set the living room at 70° from 8 until 9 am, the bedroom at 65° from 9 pm until 6 am, and the kitchen at 68° from 6 'til 8 am.
Capacity: You can add multiple Temperature Sensors to your home's Nest-controlled HVAC system. Up to 6 Temperature Sensors are supported for each connected thermostat. If you have multiple Nest Thermostats in your home, you can have up to 18 Nest Temperature Sensors in your home.
Wireless: The Temperature Sensor sends its data to the Nest Thermostat via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Typical range is up to 50 feet, however, the range may vary depending upon your home's construction, wireless interference, or other factors.
Power Requirements: The Nest Temperature Sensor is powered by a single, 3-volt CR2 Lithium battery (installed). Typical battery life is up to 2 years.
