Better than expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Usually, long belated sequels to positively received films are disappointments. However, The Blair Witch Project, while a good film, has an issue; namely, that nothing really happens. It's spooky and all but the lack of any real action hurts it. With Blair Witch, the original film's formula is updated. Sure, jump scares and stupid character decisions get old quick but this film gets more right than wrong. There's still plenty of unseen sounds and such but you also occasionally get the payoff of seeing something. The found footage aspect may be off putting to some but if you don't mind a bit of shaky-cam film making, check this one out.

The best Blair Witch sequel we will ever get
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I saw the original it was such a one of a kind film that it was scary, exciting, and felt original (found footage wasn't a new concept, just wasn't used often)...when the first sequel came out I didn't hate it as it tried to be something different, but wasn't what I wanted. All these years later the guys that made the thrilling films You're Next and The Guest bring us a proper sequel....it brings enough new to the table to feel refreshing and exciting all over again. Seeing it with a group of friends in the dark is definitely the way to watch this film.

Enjoyable sequel!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a sequel to the original even though it's like deja vu again when watching it. It is enjoyable for as long as you don't constantly compare it to the 1st movie and see it for its new offering. Open-mindedness certainly is key to enjoying this movie because you have to embrace the myth that is Blair Witch to avoid being too bored that it's just like seeing the first movie again. This sequel is more calculated than the first but it still is good enough to enjoy as a horror flick.

Good Horror
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very pleasantly surprised by this movie. The acting wasn't great and the characters make some stupid decisions as per usual in horror movies, but overall I liked this one just as much as the original. A lot of people hated this movie because they claimed it was almost a "shot for shot" remake. While it is very similar, I feel that it is different enough to be a good film on its own. Where this film really shines is the last 15-20 min.

No where as good as the first one but okay.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 2016 Blair Witch movie is no where as good as the first one but its okay to watch if you have nothing else to do. The first Blair Witch movie is one of the scariest movies ever made! I remember seeing it back in 1999 and thinking about it weeks after seeing it. This current BlairWitch movie is okay not very scary, original or rememberable. Its a little better film then the Blair Witch 2 movie that came out in the early 2000's. The main reason why this current BlairWitch movie is not so good. Is because the director and studio were trying to create the 1999 version over again which is a big mistake! The original film was filmed like a school project, script as simple, story was clean and made sense. This version has confusing parts, the shaking cam was not use right unlike the first one. Overall this is not a bad film but don't think this film is anywhere near as good as the first BlairWitch film because it isn't.

Blair Witch 2016
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not as bad as the critics said. It takes a while for the scares to kick in to full gear, but once they do, it delivers quite effectively. It is supposed to be a direct sequel to the original Blair Witch, but it does sort of feel like a remake as well. The Atmos track is crucial in making the scares work effectively. A very good track that compliments the movie. This could make for a fun night with friends and family.

The woods remain scary!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Blair Witch is the proper sequel that the original, The Blair Witch Project (1999), deserves while standing strong enough on it's own for an audience that hasn't seen the previous films. It remains true to the tone and style that The Blair Witch Project made popular and adds to the mythology. This is a quality horror film and if your'e a fan of the Blair Witch series, it's definitely worth watching! Recommended!

Fan of Original
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a fan of the original 1999 found footage classic, and a fan of Adam Wingard's previous genre films-- I figured this idea was a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, this new rendition of the Blair Witch story made some mistakes that didn't help the film measure up to the original. First, having Heather's MUCH younger brother and his group of polished, model agency looking friends just didn't seem justified in going out into the woods to search for a sibling who had been missing for over 20 years. The whole thing just didn't feel authentic as a found footage movie, and my opinion is that it was just too Hollywood. The whole thing was just one bad decision after another, on the part of the creative decision making. I still gave it a few stars because it wasn't completely horrible-- but it was much too reliant on jump scares and trite, redundant storytelling.
